Top Tips to Get your Hair in Shape for Summer (Inspire Limerick May 2015)

Winter play’s havoc on your hair and if you want to get your hair  in tip top condition for summer and if  you want hair that shines, and  hair that feels super soft, you need to follow these hair tips:

Be gentle when washing.
Wash your hair please do not scrub your hair, be gentle when massaging the shampoo and conditioner in, let the product do the work and not brute force. Towel dry by patting/sqeezing and not rubbing with a towel. I always comb hair out with a detangling brush, there are many types and most are very good.

Avoid heat
Shiny hair is healthy hair – so don’t abuse it! Use heat-styling as infrequently as you can get away with, Using heat every day, or a few times a week will seriously affect the quality of your hair and if you have to use heat, use a heat protectant product but avoid products that contain alcohol, which can dry out your hair and strip its shine. Sounds simple but if your hair is in distress you will have to be very patient with it while you await the new hair growth that you will not expose to the drying elements.

Hydrate your body.

Drink plenty of water as this will ensure that your hair is properly moisturized from the inside out. About eight glasses a day is ideal. Keep a bottle by your side and sip from it often. Once you begin drinking 8+ glasses a day you will never look back, this not only helps your hair, but also improves the look of your skin and makes the whites of your eyes really bright. If your struggle with 8 glasses, begin at 4 this week and each week add a glass to your daily total, you will be at 8 glasses in no time.

Hair Rinse
Mix two tablespoons apple cider vinegar with one cup luke warm water, and use to douse your hair after washing. Rinse thoroughly, and follow with a light conditioner. The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar will remove residue from product buildup and help you get shiny, lustrous locks. Also rince the conditioner out with water a little cooler than you washed your hair in. I have used this tip since I was about 11 years old and when I have taken a break from this step I really see a difference.

Get your skin in tip top shape in time for Summer 2015

This is my very 1st Beauty piece with Inspire Limerick so I though lets start at the start, when it comes to beauty, it is all about getting the foundation (your skin) right first, so today I bring you my top tips (only four) to have your skin feeling and looking incredible and the best part of all is that you will see real differences from week one but if you keep going for 6-8 weeks you will reveal a more glowing, softer and silky skin.

www.clarewiththehair.com
www.clarewiththehair.com

#1 / Drink Water , drink water every day, 6-8 glasses at the least, water is not just super to hydrate your skin but it is super for you, Water flushes out toxins from the body, it aids digestion, promotes weight loss and is can even cur a headache (next time the heads pounding re hydrate with a few glasses of water before reaching for the pain killers).

www.clarewiththehair.com
www.clarewiththehair.com

#2/ Dry Body Brush, Do this daily, is should take you no more than 3-4 minutes but will see fantastic results in how you skin looks and feels. Work in gentle circular, upward motions, then longer, smoother strokes. Always begin at the ankles in upwards movements towards the heart,  Increasing the circulation to the skin can  reduce the appearance of cellulite, body brushing helps shed dead skin cells (and encourages new cell renewal) and is great to stop ingowing hairs. Buy a natural bristle long handles brush and this will last you 12+ months, wash after each use.

#3/ Shower / Bath , Most of us shower or bath in water that is a little warmer than we should, try  alternating the temperature in the shower from hot to cold as this will further invigorate the skin and stimulate blood circulation, bring more blood to the outer layers of the skin.

#4/ Moisturise , It is a step I know a lot skip due to time being an issue or not seeing it as a step needed but if you want exceptionally soft, glowing skin this summer, then do not skip this step, I apply body lotion or a body oil daily after my shower, I apply before I dry off because once dry, I find I use too much and this takes time to sink in, time I do not have early in the morning.

TV3’s The Restaurant 28/01/2015

TV3’s The Restaurant 28/01/2015 Friday3

Another week and my mug is in the media again 🙂 This time on the foodie show The Restaurant as a diner and critic of the celebrity chef on TV3.

tv3
Guest critics on TV3’s The Restaurant 28/01/2015

My hubby and I headed off to the 5* Wineport Lodge to be wined and dined in absolute style, from chauffeur driven luxury cars , to walking the red carpet, sipping on delicious champagne to dining with the legendary chef Marco Pierre White , it was a spectacular evening and one I would happily repeat in the morning.

wpl

The evening kicked off when we were picked up by our driver for the evening and taken to Wineport lodge, but from my point it started way earlier when I was picking out the frock and the accessories and doing the make up, the build up was magical, almost like a child on the build up to Christmas I was 🙂

theresturant1

We arrived at the venue, our door opened for us and ‘bam’ lights, camera, action, the red carpet is not for the faint hearted , the lights are bright, the cameras are flashing and you are attempting to listen to the director.

Off inside we go to being the wine sampling, and champagne sipping, mingling with the other diners and enjoying the canapés, we had no idea what wines we were tasting at the time but they were all absolutely gorgeous and went down a treat 🙂

About an hour or so later we made our way into the main dining room where we were show to our table by the fabulous, flamboyant yet charming John Healy.

Friday1

Next came our waiter with water, more wine and our 1st glimpse of the menu, I will not go into the entire menu here as it will take all day and all the details on on the show here http://www.tv3.ie/player/show/708/89452/1/

Friday2

Next in come the incredible , mountain of a man, Marco Pierre White, at this point my heart went out to the celebrity chef, I could could for nearly anyone but someone like him , I would fall to pieces.

wpl1

We ate, we laughed, we tried to guess the celebrity chef and we just had the most enjoyable evening and at the end of the evening we were introduced to the celebrity , who I have to admit non of us guessed 🙂

Filming went on for a good 4-5 hours and we ended up with a 45 minute show, a really great show even if I do say so myself 🙂

wpl2

Sure watch it here and tell me what you think http://www.tv3.ie/player/show/708/89452/1/

As you my reader know, I write many posts here as Clare with the Hair and a good chunk of these are food based, even thought this did not begin as a food blog it has quickly developed into one 🙂 I have always loved to cook and from the age of 11 and 12 I was cooking the Sunday roasts at home and I was getting the mid week meals ready, I was the youngest of five and both parents worked so being 1st in the door it became my job to get the meals started, which to be honest was not a chore at all to me I always really enjoyed being in the kitchen. My mother was an incredible cook, her foods were enjoyed by everyone and coming from a village of less than a 1,000 people and long before the day’s of googling a meal, my mother was super adventurous with recipes and flavors. This is who inspires me and made me love food as I do today x

Clare FM 07/01/2015

Today I was invited into Clare FM Radio for a Chat with John Cooke their Morning Focus presenter http://www.clare.fm/ to  chat about the National Uk Blog Awards and the incredible success of my blog in general. There will be a pod cast of this which I will add tomorrow.

It was a lovely chat, and really super that my local station have taken the time to know us bloggers are here and to celebrate the hard work that goes into blogging, anyone who currently blogs or has ever blogged in the past, know’s just how must time and energy goes into creating a blog and as I blog 4-10 times per week, it really does take me a lot of time but I love it and i only do it because I enjoy it.

I get asked all the time why do I blog, and there is not one reason, I love to connect with other bloggers, I love the feedback from readers and I love putting on ‘virtual’ paper the things I like and the things I do.

Thank you Clare FM you made me feel very welcome, Jason and John thank you for having me in and for taken the time to look at me blog as you both knew all about it when I arrived in today.

Hope to speak with you again soon.

PS sorry about the brutal Clare FM selfie 🙂
